My wife Angela and our 3 children Kevin, 5th grade, Christopher 1st grade, and Sophia Kindergarten, moved to our home in Brea five years ago. I am a graduate of Oklahoma State University, while Angela received her degree from UCLA. Education has always been priority in our home, and it was with this in mind that we moved into the Brea Olinda School District. I work for the Alliance of Schools for Cooperative Insurance Programs (ASCIP), where I monitor K-12 school districts and support them in the areas of risk management, safety and loss control. My experience as a Public Schools Risk Manager for over 10 years with Districts throughout Southern California affords me the opportunity to learn in great detail the many issues, challenges, options and creative solutions that are used to support educators and students. I am committed to bringing my depth of understanding and insight to Brea's parents, students, and educators.
I believe Brea is a strong District that can become even greater. I believe the District needs to continue a strong fiscal culture to help us as we enter in a period of declining enrollment and reduced state and federal funding. I believe our GATE Program needs to be evaluated and enhanced to provide a more rigorous challenge to our students. I believe the District's policies and services for our most at risk students need to be guided towards a system of continuity and partnership. I believe our educators and staff need to be recognized and given the support they need to succeed. I believe it is time to make a decision about the development of the Birch Street School, of which we have invested a great deal of time and funding.
As a Board member, I promise to maintain a commitment to all our children and to maximizing their learning, insuring their safety, and promoting their success.
I would appreciate your support and your vote on November 4th.
